Happy Anniversary!

July 24, 2012

For our 8th wedding anniversary (which sadly neither of us could remember what anniversary it was, and we both had to look it up. In our defense we have been dating almost 15 years, its hard to keep track!), Mark decided to surprise me by checking off one of my “bucket list” / “life list” (whatever you want to call it) items. I wrote the list several years ago when I desperately needed something to look forward to. Its 100 things that I would like to do at some point in my life. Some are random, some are work related, some push me to have new experiences, some deeply personal. At some point in the next few weeks I will post the list.  For our anniversary I got to check off #84; Fly somewhere just for dinner.

We drove up the the Georgetown Municipal Airport to meet up with our pilot, a fellow photographer that Mark knows.

The flight was alot of of fun, and a different perspective of Texas then we normally get. We flew over the river, over small towns and over Canyon lake before landing in San Antonio.

We were headed to the riverwalk for dinner. We had some time before our reservation to wander around the riverwalk. The riverwalk is a tourist destination and at the peak of summer, tourist season was in full swing. It was packed! So many people that we walked along at a snails pace admiring the view and people watching. We ate at Boudro’s Texas Bistro, which had fabulous food and even better margaritas. Then we walked along the riverwalk after dinner eating ice cream and enjoying the night.

The flight home was amazing. We were able to loop around both downtown San Antonio and downtown Austin on our flight back. And the space in between the two cities was dotted with small clusters of lights showing where all the small towns are, and lots of dark space where the lakes were. During parts of the flight there were more stars above us then street lights below us.

Happy anniversary Mark! Thank you for an amazing date night, and a fabulous 8 years! It has been a journey, one that I wouldn’t want to do with any one else by my side.
