Day 8

September 19, 2010

Mark arrives home tomorrow. So this will be the last post of daily Fiona photos, since he will be able to get his dose of Fiona in person. Its been a challenge to try to take, edit and post photos everyday. Its been enjoayable and one of the few creative highlights of my very long days.

We headed to the park for a little while today, and Fiona played on the swings.

Before dinner Fiona helped me pick pears from the tree in the backyard. Do you see the look on Pico’s face? He loves pears and was sooo hoping that she would give him that pear.

Day 7…almost done!

September 18, 2010

Only 2 more days until my husband is home and I get to once again share parenting and doggie duty. I think I miss him the most at 7am when the dogs wake me up for breakfast (which is normally his job).

Speaking of dogs… isn’t tibi pretty? I think pink suits her.

We took a break today to go chase ducks. Fiona learned the word duck recently, and I thought I would give a chance to use it…alot.

I think half of my photos are of her chasing some poor bird or duck. She had a blast though.

Day 6 photos

September 17, 2010

This is just going to be a drive by photo post. Still crazy busy, and need to get so much done!

Day 5 of daily photos

September 16, 2010

Today was exhausting (and it is far from over)! I have a ton of work, so I had to call in reinforcements. Luckily I got 6 hours of people helping to watch Fiona, so I had a very productive day. Presentations and image sourcing, oh my!

I did spend most of the afternoon hanging out with Fiona. I went to get her a snack, and when I turned around the little thief had snatched 2 strawberries from the fridge and was busy cramming them into her mouth.

This smile makes my long days, and even longer nights all worth it!

We took the dogs on a walk in the late afternoon. We live in a fabulous area, and there is city rosegarden just a few blocks from the house. However dogs are not allowed, so we just looked in…

Day 4

September 15, 2010

Day 4, which means we are almost half way there! Or I should say I’m almost half  way there. Another 5 days and my husband will be home, I am looking forward to it!

Fiona is feeling better, and her fever is gone. She is back to her playful self. She loves to play dress up; likes to carry my purse around and try to wear my shoes. Such a little lady.

Fiona happily played by herself for a little while, which gave me time for conference calls.

I think I’ve mentioned before that we have two dogs. I’ve posted photos of the small dog (small only in comparison to our other dog). For the longest time Pico wasn’t fond of Fiona. He used to hide in his crate. But lately he has come around…maybe its the snacks?

Look at that attitude! Hand on her hip, telling Pico whats up.

Day 3 of daily photos

September 14, 2010

Poor Fiona was still sick today. We did lots of cuddling, and she was such a trooper sitting through client conference calls.

She still doesn’t feel like eating, but did manage some lemon orzo soup (I tried giving her chicken noodle, but she wanted my soup).

We stopped at Jamba Juice while we were out running errands and shared the pumpkin smoothie. I’m not ready for fall weather, but I am ready for fall flavors!

Day 2

September 13, 2010

This morning we slept in (until 9am!) and then headed to the farmers market. Fiona loves hats and stole mine while we were eating lunch.

Hats are tricky to put on sometimes…

After a fun morning and an afternoon that involved a nice long walk with the dogs Fiona started running a fever. So we spent most of the evening curled up on the couch watching hgtv and the cooking channel.

Day 1 of daily photos

September 12, 2010

This month has been insane so far. First my husband headed off to Vegas for Photoshop World (by the way he is in the running to be the next photoshop evangelist, which in photoshop nerd speak is a good thing. You should totally vote for him: http://www.nextphotoshopevangelist.com/?page=view&video=14332510). Then the day he got home Fiona and I headed off to Austin, Texas to house hunt (yes a move is in the works, but that deserves its own post). We got home spent a day together and now he is in London for  Nokia Developer World.

I of course have been slammed with work and I’ve been busy managing work, the house, playdates and the dogs. Its been an exhausting few weeks!

Since Mark is out of touch by our usually daily iphone photos I will be emailing and posting photos so that he can get his daily dose of Fiona. Today is day 1, there will hopefully be 8 more days of photos. it also gives me a good reason to step away from my computer and play with my camera.

Powerpoint

September 2, 2010

Most of my design work is powerpoint design. I do alot of event work, most of the time I get to work from home which is a huge bonus. The last couple weeks I have been working on an event for one of my clients. The way this client works is that a template is designed and they send decks that need to be converted to the template.

Often times I get slides that look like this:

I take that oh so pretty slide and turn it in to this:

I realize that presentation design is not glamorous and that most designers don’t think powerpoint is a “real” design tool. But I enjoy turning ugly presentations into something that is clean and easy to understand.
